Are bestow creatures auras?

A creature with bestow is not an Aura while it is in your library or even your hand. It becomes an Aura when you cast it by paying its alternate “bestow” cost and have a legal target for it. It remains an Aura until it “falls off” or no longer can legally enchant what it’s attached to.

Is bestow an activated ability?

Is bestow an alternate casting cost?

Bestow is one such ability. Any effect that says you can cast a spell without paying its mana cost is also an alternative cost. So you can cast a spell for its bestow cost, or you can cast a spell without paying its mana cost, but you can’t do both.

Does bestow target?

If you cast a bestow card for its bestow cost, it’s never a creature spell. Instead, it’s an Aura spell with enchant creature, so you have to target a creature to cast it. If that creature has a heroic ability, this will trigger it, just as any other Aura spell would.

Is bestow instant speed?

Boon Satyr has Flash whether he’s being cast as a Creature spell or a non-creature Aura spell, so Bestowing him at “instant speed” is just fine.

Do enchantment creatures count as auras?

While it’s enchanting a creature, an Aura with bestow grants the creature the bonuses listed in its text box. If the creature it’s enchanting leaves the battlefield for any reason, the Aura immediately becomes an enchantment creature again rather than being put in the graveyard like other Auras.

Is bestow affected by Commander tax?

This additional cost is informally known as the “commander tax.” If you’re casting your commander for an alternative cost, such as “without paying its mana cost” or a bestow cost, the commander tax applies in addition to that alternative cost.

Can you use standard cards in Commander?

All regular-sized black- and white-bordered Magic cards publicly released by Wizards of the Coast are legal to play with in Commander. This means that silver-bordered cards are not legal in Commander — they are not covered by the Comprehensive Rules and not legal in constructed formats.
