Can you summon in face up Defence?

You cannot Normal Summon it in face-up Defense Position.

Can you set a monster face up defense mode?

When you Flip Summon, you cannot change the monster to face-up Defense Position, only to face- up Attack Position. A Monster Card cannot be Flip Summoned in the same turn that it was Set onto the field. You cannot use most monsters’ effects until they are face-up.

Can you special summon in Defence position?

A Special Summon is always performed in either face-up Attack or Defense Position, unless a card specifies that the monster may be Special Summoned face-down.

Do flip effects work when attacked?

When a face-down Flip monster is attacked, during damage calculation the monster is flipped face-up, then it is determined whether or not the monster is destroyed by battle. If a card effect destroys a face-down Flip monster, its Flip effect cannot be activated since it is not flipped face-up.

Can XYZ monsters be flipped?

Xyz Materials are not considered to be “cards on the field.” Xyz Materials are not treated as monsters while attached to a Xyz Monster. Xyz Materials are sent to the Graveyard when the Xyz Monster leaves the field, but not if the Xyz Monster is flipped face-down.

Can you XYZ summon during opponent’s turn?

Since the effect of “Mancer” only permits Summoning other “Gagaga” monsters during the turn its effect is activated, this can be used to override that by Xyz Summoning during your opponent’s turn, allowing yourself to Xyz Summon any chosen Xyz Monster while keeping the low powered “Gagaga” monsters out of harms way.

Can you flip summon after attacking?

You cannot Flip Summon a monster at the same turn it was Summoned, Normal Set, declared an attack (even if the attack was negated or canceled), or its battle position was changed manually that turn.
