How is damage dealt with multiple blockers?
If multiple creatures block the same attacker, the attacking player orders those blockers to show which is first in line for that attacker’s damage, which is second, and so on. If an attacker is blocked by multiple creatures, the attacking player can divide its combat damage among them.
Can one blocker block multiple attackers?
There is only an order for multiple blockers for a single attacker. While there is a damage assignment order for dealing damage from the blocker to the attacker, this doesn’t affect the damage assignment order selected by the attacker.
Can you assign all damage to one blocker?
Yes. You can assign as much damage as you want to a single blocker. The only restriction is that you cannot assign damage to a second blocker until you have assigned lethal damage to the first. 510.1.
Do blockers deal combat damage?
A blocking creature assigns combat damage among the attacking creatures it blocks, which is one creature except in the case of certain abilities. Attacking creatures that are blocked but have the blocking creature removed from combat before the Damage Assignment Step deal no combat damage.
Can I block with multiple creatures?
Each creature can only block a single attacker, but the defending player may choose to block an attacking creature with more than one creature. Both players are given a chance to cast instants and activate abilities after blockers have been declared.
Does Lifelink work blocking?
Yes. Any damage dealt by a creature with lifelink causes its controller to gain that much life, including combat damage dealt by such a creature while blocking.
How many creatures can you block with?
Yes. There is normally no limit on how many creatures can block each combat nor is there a limit on how many creatures can block a specific attacker. Some cards may change this by saying creatures can only be blocked by one creature, but the default is “no limit”. 509.1a.
Can a tapped creature block?
Can a tapped creature become a blocker? It doesn’t block, it becomes a blocker.
Can you block with summoning sickness?
Yes, you can block with a creature affected by summoning sickness.
Can you sacrifice a blocker?
You can block, and then still in the declare blockers step, sacrifice it. The attacker will remain blocked and won’t assign combat damage to the player or planeswalker it’s attacking unless it has trample or a similar ability. The creature you sacrificed won’t be there to deal combat damage either though.
Can I block with a creature then sacrifice it?
