Does devotion count the card being cast?
Since the god is a permenant, it’s mana symbols in it’s casting cost count towards your devotion. As long as Erebos, God of the Dead, or any other card, is on the battlefield, it counts towards your devotion. A permanent is a card or token on the battlefield.
Do tokens count as devotion?
A token has no mana cost and contributes nothing to your devotion to a color unless it’s a copy of something that has a mana cost, such as the tokens created by Nacatl War-Pride’s ability. If it is, then it contributes the same amount of devotion to a color as the permanent it’s copying.
Is a god a creature in the graveyard?
Yes you can. The Gods will always be creatures anywhere but the battlefield (they’ll be creatures on the battlefield if you have enough devotion). So you can scavenge them with Varolz.
