Resident Evil 2 gives you the option to play as either Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield when you start a story campaign. The short answer, though, is that you’ll only get the full story of Resident Evil 2 by playing it (at least) twice — once as Leon and once as Claire.

It’s my experience that Claire seems to take more damage as well. I think Leon has more health. Adaptive Difficulty, you’re doing better with Claire so the game beefs up zombies’ HP and damage. As for running speed Claire goes faster in Caution than in Normal, at least according to speedrunners.
