How does Vesuvan Shapeshifter work?

As Vesuvan Shapeshifter enters the battlefield or is turned face up, you may choose another creature on the battlefield. If you do, until Vesuvan Shapeshifter is turned face down, it becomes a copy of that creature, except it has “At the beginning of your upkeep, you may turn this creature face down.”

Does Vesuvan Shapeshifter get ETB?

Yes, it will be entering the battlefield as a copy of that creature. Do note that Meddling Mage does not have a triggered ability but you will still get to chose a card to name.

Can Vesuvan Shapeshifter be played face down?

You can cast Vesuvan Shapeshifter face down because it has the morph ability (C.R. 702.36a). In general, you can’t let it enter the battlefield face down by any other means (C.R. 110.5b).

Does Vesuvan Shapeshifter target?

Neither Sakashima’s Student nor Vesusvan Shapeshifter have targeted abilities. You may copy a creature with hexproof or shroud.

Is Changeling a creature type?

Are all shapeshifters changelings?

Are All Shapeshifters Changelings? No. While this is an ability only given to shapeshifters, there are cards like Body Double and Aetherling that don’t have it.

Can a morph ability be countered?

A) No. You cannot respond to morph as morph does not use the stack. Morph is announced, the cost is paid, and the Skinthinner is turned face up. The ability of the Skinthinner will then be countered because it no longer has a legal target, but it will not be forced to target the Angel instead.

Does morph beat split second?

Yes you can use morph in response to a spell with split second. When a split second spell is put on the stack players can’t cast spells or activate abilities (except for mana abilities) with that spell on the stack. Morph on the other hand is a special action and only requires that a player has priority.
