After Javi gives Clementine a haircut, Clementine will leave Richmond to go find A.J.. He is never seen again after the events of Richmond, but it is confirmed he is still alive.

Clementine mentions in Season 4 that she can’t go back to Richmond because the path between McCarroll Ranch and Richmond is overrun with zombies and unsafe, plus possibly because most of the state is a war zone.
How did Clementine die?
As it turns out, Clementine didn’t die at the end of TWD. AJ hacked off her mauled and bitten leg, and then (apparently) cauterized the wound to prevent her from bleeding out. AJ was able to get her back to the boarding school in (mostly) one piece, leaving our series protagonist disabled, but still very much alive.
