Can you build a settlement off a ship?

If you want to move a ship, you have to place it so that it is attached to another ship, or to a city or settlement. You can never reach another island with just one ship. If your shipping route reaches a coastline, you can then build a new settlement on that coast, even if it’s a new island.

How many settlements can you build?

You cannot build more pieces than what is available in your pool—a maximum of 5 settlements, 4 cities, and 15 roads. A new road must always connect to 1 of your existing roads, settlements, or cities. Only 1 road can be built on any given path4.

How many points do you need to win seafarers?

There is a thread on BoardGameGeek about combining the two expansions, in which two separate people mention that the official rule is to add 2 victory points to the Seafarers scenario if you’re playing with Cities and Knights.

How do you build a ship in seafarers?

To build a ship, expend 1 wool resource (to make sails) and 1 lumber resource (to build hulls and masts). Like roads, ships can only be placed on the boundary (hex side) between two hexes. Unlike roads, ships cannot be placed between two land hexes.

Can you build a settlement between two opponents roads?

Yes. You can build the settlement in the middle of an opponent’s road (as long as your own road connects to it and there is at least one gap before any other existing settlements).

Is Catan Seafarers worth?

Seafarer’s has Very few new mechanics but adds a ton of map variability. We loved it because we loved Catan, and Seafarers is the expansion that is most true to the base game. It gets really complex so it’s best for people that play often, but it adds a lot to the game.

Do Settlements break longest road?

The settlement blocks your road if it appears at the end of your road, that is if one of your roads comes off it. If it is in the middle of your road, so that there are two of your roads coming off it, you can keep building at both ends, but the settlement splits the road in two when counting for longest road.

What Catan Seafarers add?

In the Seafarers expansion, you build ships adjacent to each other, thus forming shipping routes along the sea hexes and connecting the islands. If your shipping route has reached a new island, you may build a settlement there.

Does road building count for ships?

A settlement must first be built before a player can switch from building roads to building ships, or vice versa. Thus, a chain of ships is always anchored at a settlement on the coast. When a seven is rolled or a Knight card is played, the player may move either the robber OR the pirate.
