Is at the beginning of combat a triggered ability?

It is now time to take a look on the most interesting phase of the turn – combat phase. Besides a fact, that there are a lot of triggers happening in that phase it’s a source for triggered events. Combat phase starts with the beginning of combat step.

Do abilities go on the stack?

Spells and abilities are put on top of the stack as the first step is being played, and are removed from it as the last step of resolving. Any spell or ability that uses the stack can be ‘responded to’ by all players, meaning players have a chance to play spells and abilities with it still on the stack.

When does an ability have a trigger condition?

603.1 Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an effect. They are written as “ [When/Whenever/At] [trigger condition or event], [effect].” 603.2 Whenever a game event or game state matches a triggered ability’s trigger event, that ability automatically triggers.
