Is Slapjack a real game?

Slapjack, or Slaps, is a game for 2-4 people and played with a standard 52 playing card deck. The objective of Slapjack is to win all of the cards by quickly slapping the deck whenever a Jack is played. For more classic card games, check out our guides for Six Card Golf and Cribbage.

Can you look at your cards in Slapjack?

The players are not allowed to look at their cards. The dealer starts by placing their top card in the centre of the playing area, revealing the face of the card at the same time (as you do in snap). (See Slapjack above for suggestions on how to do this fairly.)

What happens if you slap the wrong card in Slapjack?

If a player incorrectly slaps the pile when it is not a Jack, he must pay a penalty card, facedown, to the player who played the card.

How does Slapjack end?

When a player has no more cards left, they remain in the game until the next jack is turned. The player may slap at the jack in an effort to get a new pile. If the player fails to win that next pile, they are out of the game.
