Who can ally with Tau?
So I was reading through the rule book and I saw that the Tau have two Allies of Convenience: Necrons and Eldar.
Are the Tau and Space Marines allies?
where the Tau helped Space Marines hold off against the Tyranid Hive Fleet. The Space Marines let them leave the planet before calling down an Exterminatus on the planet. This seems more like they were ‘Allies of Convenience’.
Do the Tau have a chance?
Personally, I like the design of the Tau. It’s a noble-bright, technologically advanced, adaptive, cooperative civilization. And they have absolutely no chance of survival.

Edit: to clarify, the Tau are probably the only opponent the Imperium could completely destroy, based on the Tau’s space travel technology and currently how few Tau there are. As they cannot navigate the warp due to lack of psykers, they can only do short hops that take longer overall to travel the same distance.

O’Shovah, or Commander Farsight as he is known in the Imperium, gave these Humans the option of joining the T’au Empire, an offer that most accepted.
How to make space marines with the Tau?
So, the best way to make space marines with tau, is to create a custom space marine chapter, who is painted in the colours of the tau. Or else, just treat them as battlebrothers in mechanics, but allies of convenience, in the “fluff” of your battle, such as in the case where they fought together to repel Tyranids 🙂 Have you seen this in a book?
What do you need to know about Space Marines?
Varied playstyles. You can completely change the character of a Space Marine army simply by changing which supplement it draws its rules from. Tough and reliable. Space Marine units have great profiles, with even the basic Marine offering high Strength and Toughness and a 3+ save.
Are there any space marines in Warhammer 40k?
In the 6th edition rule book for Warhammer 40K, it states that Tau consider (and vice versa) Space Marines and Eldar to be battle brothers. The only encounter I know the Tau have had with Space Marines is during the Damocles Assault (?) where the Tau helped Space Marines hold off against the Tyranid Hive Fleet.
Can a daemonhunter ally with a Space Marine?
Some can ally like daemonhunters/witch-hunters to guard/space marines of any kind except chaos. Its feasible to play as orks with templars for example. But for the more hardcore themed players may go along with the fluff (that means story-line). Like Chaos along side some traitor Tau or Imperial Guard. (Justified by thier own ‘fluff’).
